Some of our clients have confidentiality agreements with us, so we cannot
normally publicize their names in our promotional material. However,
in most cases, we have the ability to use them as a reference should we need
to if we are presenting a formal proposal to a client.
Strategic Planning / Business Development
Creation of major 3PL provider. Strategic planning support
for the creation of a 3PL subsidiary for a Fortune 50 transportation provider.
Worked with the start up team to establish the marketing, and operational
plans for this major provider that is now doing well over $100 million
a year in business.
Mergers/Strategic Partnership. Hired by one of Japan's
largest forwarders, and one of the top five ranked forwarders in the world,
to evaluate potential logistics partners for them, and to assist in the
initial planning phase of their cooperative agreement.
Logistics Information Systems Development
Logistics Information System design. Worked with Princeton
Consultants one of the worlds top systems development consultancies
to design the COLT logistics information system for Customized
Logistics Services (a former subsidiary of NAVL and Norfolk Southern
Railroad). Jim Powell, TDG Principal, was responsible for acting
as a liaison between the systems development team and the operating management
of the company. We assisted in the functional design of the system
and in helping to design the user interface. We also came up with
the name "COLT" (Customized Online Logistics Technology)
to signify the relationship with Norfolk Southern (though CLS later changed
the meaning of the acronym).
Systems
analysis. USA's 2nd largest Floral Products Trucking Company.
Performed comprehensive analysis of their existing information systems.
Made detailed recommendations (including designing the screens and all
the functional specifications) for a new logistics information system
to allow them to expand their existing $50 mm base of business into other
areas. This included recommendations on development of an air freight
product and potential partnerships with other carriers and forwarders.
Operations Management / Network Development
Set up nationwide trucking network for air freight forwarder.
Hired by $100 mm freight forwarder to analyze their freight routings
and study development of a dedicated linehaul network to move more of
their air freight products on the ground.
Temporarily managed operations for major new account.
A client secured a new air logistics account that resulting in a 1000%
increase in shipment volume through their SFO office. TDG provided training
and operations support during the set-up phase. This work
included establishing and documenting operational procedures, reviewing
work processes and documenting work-flows and recommending changes to
accommodate the increased volume.
Sales and marketing training
Create inbound sales program. Contracted to assist in
the creation of inbound logistics sales program. Emphasized
sales strategies in selling to purchasing and finance personnel as well
as the key benefits and operational requirements of an effective inbound
program.
Create third party logistics sales training program. Because
of contract provisions we cannot post the name of the client but it is
one of the worlds top 5 freight forwarders with almost $2 billion dollars
in annual sales. TDG created and is teaching a 3 day Logistics Sales Training
Program for over 100 global account managers, country managers and the
Area VP's throughout the world. Classes have been taught in Singapore,
London, Los Angeles and at their hub in the Midwestern U.S. Classes will
be taught in 1999 in the Philippines and in Europe. This company
has nearly $2 billion dollars in transportation revenue and this training
is designed to aid in the expansion of their logistics services throughout
the world.
Taught logistics sales program. MSAS Cargo International:
trained over 100 national account and global account managers in classes
throughout the US.
Operations training
IATA/FIATA Cargo Agent Diploma. TDG was one of two consulting
companies (the other being Cargo Marketing Group and Cotton Daly) who
participated with a group of 12 major forwarders in creating the classroom
version of the IATA/FIATA
Cargo Agent training program sponsored by Cargo Network Services.
Jim Powell is the last of the original instructors that continues to teach
this program on a public basis.
Domestic Air Freight and trucking course. The Airforwarders
Association approached TDG in 1998 and asked that we create a Domestic
Air Freight and Trucking Operations class, which we completed in May of
last year. Since that time we have taught three day seminars in
LAX, ORD and MIA. Classes will be offered again in 1999 along with
an on-line and CD-ROM based version.
Trained FAA Agents. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) --
through Cargo Network Services, Jim Powell has provided training to over
100 FAA Cargo Security and Dangerous Goods Special Agents. Teaching a
customized class at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City over the past three
years, we have trained over 175 Special Agents in the Cargo Security and
Dangerous Goods Enforcement Division. This course, which is coordinated
by CNS, is designed to inform the agents about freight forwarder procedures
and about the Air Cargo industry in General.
